2024 APAA Meeting - Manila, Philippines
In November, Paul and Andrew attended the annual Asian Patent Attorneys Association meeting in Manila, Philippines. Both Paul and Andrew are long serving members on the Patents Standing Committee, with Andrew being a Co-Chair. This year, Andrew also participated in a mock trial, arguing for the defence in a patent and trade secret case: “Story of a Not-So-Ordinary Chicken Dish”.
2024 AIPPI World Congress - Hangzhou, China
Andrew attended the AIPPI World Congress in Hangzhou, China from 19 to 22 October. He was able to meet up with many colleagues from overseas firms and discuss important developments in IP throughout the world. Hangzhou is a beautiful city at the southern terminus of the ancient Grand Canal waterway, which originates in Beijing. Its West Lake has been celebrated by poets and artists since the 9th century.
2024 INTA Annual Meeting and 2024 AIPLA Spring Meeting
In May, Paul headed to the USA to attend two prestigious meetings, the AIPLA Spring Meeting in Austin, Texas, followed by the INTA Annual Meeting, held in Atlanta, Georgia.
Both of these meetings provided great opportunities to maintain and strengthen relationships with colleagues overseas.
IPTA 2024 Annual Conference - Canberra
Nigel and Andrew attended this year’s IPTA conference in our nation’s capital, Canberra. The conference was an excellent opportunity to catch up with many colleagues from the IP profession, as well as attend three full days of education program.
2023 APAA Meeting - Singapore
This year’s Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) meeting was held in November in beautiful Singapore. Nigel attended as a member of the Emerging IP Rights Standing Committee. This year, the committee discussed the use of Artificial Intelligence in IP generation and protection in the Asian region. The meeting also includes a rich social program that provides excellent opportunities to catch up with friends and colleagues from around the world.
2023 IPO Annual Meeting - Boston, MA, USA
As a member of the Corporate IP Management & Operations committee of the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO), Paul attended the annual IPO meeting of the in Boston in September. The IPO is an international trade association representing diverse companies, law firms, service providers and individuals in all industries and fields of technology that own, or are interested in, intellectual property (IP) rights. Paul’s involvement with this organisation helps to provide additional insights into international aspects of Oxygene IP’s work and associations, to the benefit of our clients.
2023 INTA Meeting - Singapore
Dr Paul Warden-Hutton represented Oxygene IP at the International Trademark Association’s (INTA’s) first in-person meeting since 2019. The INTA Meeting is the pre-eminent conference for IP practitioners with over 8,000 participants this year. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to connect with intellectual property and business professionals from across the globe.
The focus of the meeting was “The Business of Innovation”, and Paul engaged in programs exploring cutting-edge IP legal issues and the business of intangible assets from innovation to commercialization. Paul is excited to put into practise the knowledge and insights he has gained for the clients of Oxygene IP.
It wasn’t all hard work! Paul found a moment to visit the famous Raffles Long Bar for a classic Singapore Sling with one of our valued associates.
IPTA 2023 Annual Conference - Hobart
In April, Nigel attended the 2023 IPTA Annual Conference in Hobart. The Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA) is the peak body representing the Australian IP profession. The annual conference is an opportunity to meet with representatives of both the Australian and New Zealand intellectual property offices, as well as IP barristers, lawyers, in-house attorneys, and other attorneys in private practice.
